Down to the Design Museum last weekend to see the recently opened Wes Anderson: The Archives exhibition featuring props and other items from all of his films.
There were some wonderful props as well as costumes, images, notes, storyboards and all sorts of minutiae. As well as a huge model of the Grand Budapest Hotel and a full size concierge booth for photo opportunities.
The reviews have been excellent and it did not disappoint. With over 700 pieces it covers every film - although there's not much for The Phoenecian Scheme. My son and I were particularly interested in the earlier films as we had previously been to the special exhibitions on the Strand for three of his recent films including Isle of Dogs, The French Dispatch and Asteroid City.
One particularly awesome display was of all the puppets from his version of 'Fantastic Mr. Fox'.
The catalogue is excellent and there's no end of delightfully designed merchandise to tempt you as you come out of the exhibition.
We had already seen some of this as we went to Paris in April and this exhibition was on at the Cinemathique Francais in eastern Paris and we popped in to the shop to see what was available for my son.
Well worth a look - the exhibition runs into 2026.
