Twenty four years ago today, I was told while walking through school of the first plane hitting the World Trade Centre. As I got home my wife, who had been to the top just a year previously was watching the news, and the second plane hit. Lots of things changed at that moment.
Six years ago, we were fortunate to travel as a family to New York for a week and we visited the pools and memorial at Ground Zero - a profound experience, and also Santiago Calatrava's miraculous Oculus building, which was full of energy and purpose and beautifully designed with its skylight roof which will come into action today.
These are big, profound and personal geographies of place; and a memory that will stay with me.
